New employee start and first-week manager brief
Illustrative file for a six-person agency hiring a remote account manager in Illinois. The brief coordinates an approved hire after the candidate has accepted. It does not determine worker classification, pay, legal notices, or whether any policy meets state or federal requirements.
Confirmed start record
The approved title is Account Manager. The start date is August 24, the manager is the agency owner, and the accepted salary agrees with the payroll setup record. The employee will work from Illinois. The offer letter is signed. The confidentiality agreement is unsigned, and the handbook acknowledgment has not been issued because the current handbook still carries the former company address.
Before day one
Payroll needs the approved worker record and state setup confirmation. The computer order has a delivery date but no asset number. Email, Slack, project, password-manager, and customer-system requests are drafted with least-access defaults. LILA does not activate accounts. Each system owner confirms the request before the employee receives access.
- Owner: approve the corrected handbook issue packet by August 14.
- Payroll provider: confirm Illinois setup and required new-hire records by August 17.
- Operations owner: record the computer asset number and delivery evidence.
- Manager: approve first-week meetings, customer access, and the first assignment.
First-week plan
Day one covers company context, role expectations, systems, security, and the first customer account. Day two includes a shadowed customer call. By day three, the employee prepares a customer-status brief for manager review. Friday closes with a 30-minute check on role clarity, missing access, workload, and questions. These are manager questions, not an automated performance judgment.
Close conditions
The start record remains open until signed documents, payroll confirmation, issued equipment, approved access, completed required training, and the first-week manager check are evidenced. Any mismatch in title, pay, work state, classification, or policy wording pauses the affected task and routes the factual record to the owner, payroll provider, or counsel.
